Look at your work the way a curator does.

Kaat Celis shares her critical eye and strategic approach to help you refine, position, and present your photography more powerfully — both as an artist and as an entrepreneur.

The market for photography is still growing, but the number of creators is skyrocketing. And now, with AI able to generate images in seconds, the bar is higher than ever. Only those who combine vision, craftsmanship, purpose, and strategy truly stand out.

The world sees things differently today.
It’s time your photography does too.

That’s exactly why it’s crucial not just to create images, but to showcase a vision that lingers.

You have an eye for it. But who’s looking alongside you?

You don’t just have an eye for images, you’ve developed a voice, a style that deserves recognition. Yet even the most experienced photographer rarely sees their own work the way an outsider does. You’re too close to it.

A fresh, professional perspective reveals what you no longer see: where your strengths lie, where your story could be sharper, where your growth opportunities are.

You know your work has potential, that it’s ready to be seen by a wider audience. Yet the path to get there is rarely clear. Not because you lack talent, but because in this field, it’s no longer just about technique or aesthetics. Success comes from strategy, positioning, and authenticity, the very areas where most photographers get stuck.

What your work needs to leave a lasting impression

Talent and craftsmanship will take you far, but not far enough. In a time when anyone can create images, and even machines can learn to compose, real power no longer lies in technique alone. What makes the difference is vision. Courage. Coherence. The way you make choices, build your story, and present your images. True success demands that your work becomes more than aesthetically strong: it must carry meaning, show consistency, and be strategically positioned. That’s the difference between good work and work that truly makes an impact.

The challenge isn’t to take better photos, it’s to show more clearly why your work matters.

The review session: a critical perspective that goes beyond feedback

After years of reviewing portfolios, curating exhibitions, and working with countless photographers, I noticed one thing: even the most experienced creators need a sharp, independent perspective. Someone who understands how images function in the professional market—from galleries to magazines, from clients to juries.

That’s how the review session was born: an intensive, one-on-one moment where we don’t just look at your images, but at your positioning, your signature, and your strategy. I prepare thoroughly for your work so that our conversation can dive straight into depth.

I want to have my work reviewed by Kaat Celis.

Absolutely, 100%. It’s so valuable to have Kaat take a look, to see where adjustments are needed and where to focus your attention to take the next step forward.

- Melissa Kanters.

  • Develop your project more purposefully, so it doesn’t get stuck at the idea stage

  • Bring coherence and direction to your work, creating a clearer signature and stronger positioning

  • Make strategic choices that align with your level, ambitions, and market

  • Strengthen your professionalism: in presentation, communication, and creativity

  • Increase the value of your work, so you can confidently stand behind your rates and your place in the field

  • Deepen your entrepreneurship, building a sustainable practice where creativity and profitability reinforce each other

The review session helps you to:

ā€œI’ve already taken several courses with Kaat, like ā€˜Photography Money & Mindset’ and a personal review session.

Recently, I had a follow-up session with her, and it felt like a warm blanket. Tears flowed, and insights touched me in a deep, gentle way.

With Kaat, it’s not just about strategy or marketing—it’s about you. Because we are our business. Everything we encounter in daily life reflects in our work. For me, that’s ā€˜money,’ a recurring theme that sometimes holds me back from truly moving forward as an entrepreneur.

Kaat listens, mirrors, and makes you reflect on yourself. She has an uncanny sense of who you are and where you want to go. Her warm personality, with a subtle spiritual edge, allows you to take big steps quickly—though you still have to take them yourself.

For any photographer trying to do it all alone: treat yourself to a review session or 1:1 program with Kaat. We really can’t do it alone.

Thank you for the conversation, Kaat. I feel wonderfully calm, and everything is still resonating. Your warm yet critical perspective as a backup is incredibly valuable. Only kind words from me.ā€

- Bernadette Mergaerts

ā€œShe learned me that the idea of a photograph’s value often lies not in the personal context of its creation, but in its ability to stand on its own, evoke emotions, or communicate meaning to the viewer independent of the photographer’s experience. Kaat learned me to slow down, to think.ā€

- Verne

ā€œI booked a review session because I wanted a different/new perspective on my business… and it can be very enlightening. The session allowed me to see some new possibilities for my business, while also confirming things that had been quietly on my mind. It was very interesting—an open and honest look at my business with suggestions for a better future. Be open to a fresh perspective on your business, especially where you might be too close to see clearly. Keep being yourself, Kaat great work!ā€
- Leen Wouters

ā€œIn my eyes, Kaat is an expert—she’s seen a lot, works internationally, has extensive knowledge, is firmly grounded in the field, and can guide me effectively because of it.ā€

- Rob

ā€œPositive. It was sometimes confronting, but I appreciate the honesty (and direct language). Kaat gave a (much-needed) critical perspective and didn’t mince words, which I value—at least you know exactly where you stand. I also regained motivation and energy to move forward—albeit perhaps in a slightly adjusted direction and according to a revised plan.ā€

I want this too! :-)

How much longer will you wait to be seen?

It takes courage to open up your work, to let someone look into something so personal. But deep down, you’ve known for a while that it’s time to move forward, to make your photography visible, position it more strongly, and have it perform at the level it deserves.

You don’t have to do it alone. With an experienced perspective by your side, you see more clearly, act more purposefully, and grow faster. The review session gives you clear, honest feedback you can actually use, practical, not theoretical.

Every photographer, no matter how experienced, has moments when a fresh, expert eye makes all the difference. If you feel it’s time to take steps, artistically, professionally, or as an entrepreneur, this is the moment to step in.

FOLLOW-UP SESSION – depth & direction

After a (VIP) review session, you’ll often notice that insights continue to resonate—and new questions or opportunities arise as you start putting them into practice.

The follow-up session gives space to build on this: we’ll review your progress, refine where needed, and bring focus to the next steps of your journey. New projects or strategic choices can also be addressed.

The session lasts one hour and, like the review session, will be recorded so you can revisit the insights at your own pace.

Investment: €199 excl. VAT

I’m reserving my spot for a follow-up session.

 FAQs

  • Only 4 spots are available per month. The earlier you book, the more options you have for dates and times.

  • Allow about 30 minutes to answer all the questions as thoroughly as possible. The more complete your input, the better the outcome of the review session will be.

  • Absolutely, both. The review session makes no distinction between junior and senior photographers. Every photographer has questions and can benefit from professional guidance at their own level.

  • No, your project doesn’t need to be finished to book a review session. In fact, it can be very useful to brainstorm in the early stages, so you can avoid dead ends from the start.

  • You will get far more than your money’s worth—but only if you provide complete input, clearly communicate where you want to go and what your specific questions are. And, of course, if you don’t just consume the advice, but actually implement it.

  • The founder and photography curator of De Donkere Kamer selects the program for the live shows based on what she encounters and sees. Selection can’t be guaranteed in advance, but one thing is certain: you’ll get on Kaat’s radar, and who knows—you might even be featured in one of the shows!

  • Absolutely! The language of photography doesn’t stop at national borders. Kaat’s network and expertise extend beyond Belgium: she has extensive international collaborations, speaks English, and can meet you online from anywhere.

  • It’s safe and secure. All information you share before and during the review session is treated confidentially and will not be shared with third parties.

  • See also the answer to question 5: the outcome depends heavily on the quality of your input. By participating in the review session, we assume you want to get the most out of it and therefore fully commit to completing the intake. If, after reviewing your input, Kaat feels something is missing, her team will let you know so you can provide the additional information. It’s important that during the session you don’t just consume the guidance, but also implement it afterward. You will also receive a replay of the session so you can revisit it and extract key points later.

  • When scheduling the review session, the appointment is set in both calendars. If you happen to get sick, please notify us as soon as possible so a new date can be arranged in consultation.

  • Yes, absolutely! The session can be conducted in Dutch or English.
