Masterclass Julie Hrudová: How to Keep Seeing: Finding Your Voice in Street Photography
Every week, Julie Hrudova has to deliver a good street photograph to Het Parool. Some weeks the city hands it to her and other weeks it doesn't, while the deadline stays where it is. That weekly rhythm shaped the way she works and helped her find her way back to photography after a period in which the inspiration had completely disappeared.
In this masterclass Julia takes you through her own path in street photography. She shows how her style and voice developed over the years, where she finds inspiration and how she connects with other photographers through events and communities. She also shares StreetRepeat, her account that collects patterns and repetitions in street photography. It gives a very concrete answer to the feeling that everything has already been photographed.
Julie presents solo and keeps it personal, so you get an honest look at how she thinks, chooses and works. At the end there is room for your own questions.

Julie Hrudová (Prague, 1988) is a street and documentary photographer and photo editor based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her work explores everyday life and visual storytelling in urban environments.
Julie has collaborated with a wide range of publications and her photography has been exhibited in numerous shows, on an international scale. Her book Chasing Amsterdam, featuring her weekly photos of Amsterdam taken for Het Parool newspaper, was selected as one of the best Dutch photo books of 2022 by Netherlands’s main newspaper de Volkskrant. She currently continues to contribute weekly evening photos to this section.

About Kaat Celis
After completing her photography education, she worked as a photo editor at Het Laatste Nieuws and Goedele Magazine, and as Head of Photography at De Morgen.
