PHOTOGRAPHY, MONEY & MINDSET
A PROGRAM FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS READY FOR MATURE ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
You are not a beginner anymore.
You know your camera, you deliver quality, you have clients.
And still, something feels off.
You work hard, yet your income doesn’t grow in proportion.
You feel capable of more, but you can’t clearly see where it’s stuck. There’s effort, ambition and talent.
What’s missing is alignment.
Alignment between how you see yourself and how you position your work. Between the value you create and the money you allow yourself to earn. Between your creative level and your entrepreneurial choices.
This program is for photographers who feel ready to close that gap.
Who no longer want to operate from doubt or hesitation.
Who want clarity, structure and direction in their business.
The real problem is rarely your photography
Most photographers assume they have a visibility or marketing issue.
They try to post more, show up more, push harder.
Yet the friction usually sits deeper.
It lives in how you perceive your value. In how comfortable you are with money.
In the decisions you postpone because they feel uncomfortable.
As long as those layers remain unexamined, growth stays inconsistent.
Entrepreneurship is not something you either “have” or don’t have.
It is something you develop.
Deliberately. Consciously. Strategically.
The context around photography keeps shifting. Smartphones have changed perception.
AI has changed production. The volume of images has changed attention. The real question is not whether this is good or bad. The real question is:
Where do you stand within it? What is your position?
And how clearly is that reflected in your business choices? Sustainable growth asks for more than technical skill. It asks for clarity in positioning, revenue models that fit your level, and a mindset that allows you to act with direction.
From limitations to ownership
Over the past twenty years, I have seen the photography industry from the inside.
As a photographer, a photo editor, a curator and as the founder of De Donkere Kamer.
I have worked closely with hundreds of photographers. I have seen strong talent struggle financially. I have seen experienced professionals doubt their value. I have seen brilliant work remain invisible because the positioning was unclear.
The pattern is rarely about skill.
It is about how someone thinks about their work. How they relate to money.
How they handle responsibility.
My own path was no different.
There was a time when I operated from scarcity, from proving, from pushing. Over time, I shifted that foundation.
I experimented with different revenue models, invested heavily in coaching and personal development and learned how deeply early beliefs about money influence business decisions.
And more importantly, I learned that those beliefs can change.
Photography, Money & Mindset brings all of that experience together.
So that your growth does not have to take ten more years of trial and error (as in my case).
The program is built around 3 interconnected layers
Growth in business rarely happens on one level. It happens when thinking, money and positioning move together.
That is why this program works on three layers at the same time:
1. MINDSET.
Every business decision starts with perception.
How you see yourself. How you interpret rejection. How you deal with visibility.
How comfortable you are with responsibility.
Many photographers operate from invisible limits.
Limits around money. Around ambition. Around what feels “realistic.”
In this layer, you learn to recognize those patterns. And to replace reaction with conscious choice.
Not abstract. Practical. Observable. Applicable.
2. MONEY.
Money is rarely just about numbers.
It reflects your standards. Your boundaries. Your self-image as a professional.
We look at your money blueprint. The beliefs you grew up with. The financial ceiling you unconsciously maintain. From there, we move toward structure.
Clear pricing logic. Revenue models that match your level. Financial decisions based on strategy instead of emotion.
You stop guessing. You start steering.
3. PHOTOGRAPHY & POSITIONING.
Your work may be strong. That does not automatically make it clearly positioned.
What makes your photography distinct? What kind of assignments align with your level?
Where does your work sit within the current market?
This layer is about sharpening your voice and translating it into business choices.
Not chasing trends. Not copying what works for others.
But defining where you stand and making that visible.
Together, these three layers create coherence.
You think differently. You decide differently. You position yourself differently.
That is what mature entrepreneurship looks like.
“As a photographer, I already had experience. What I was missing was clarity as an entrepreneur. At first, I questioned whether mindset work was really necessary. Now I see how everything connects. My decisions feel more deliberate, and my revenue reflects that shift.” - Melissa.

“I wanted to go in a new direction with my photography and needed some help, next steps, advice... I received valuable feedback and clear next steps.”
- Julie
“Kaat knows how to run a business as a photographer, and she shares that knowledge in the training. It has given me several concrete tips and insights.”
- Kaatje Verschoren
“Because I was completely stuck on these three topics. I knew things had to change, but I needed a guide to set me on the right path. I wanted to find a way to be happier in my work and personally as well. Happiness in the sense of being content. ‘This is good.’ Initially, it was a huge ‘eye-opener.’ The proverbial ‘kick in the butt’ definitely worked. I’d known for a long time that many things needed to change to get out of the rut, but I needed guidance. I thought I knew everything that had to change, but I just wasn’t doing it. After following the training, so much more has come to the surface. There’s so much to do, and it must happen now. The training is well-structured. You can also use the modules interchangeably. I could start working with it right away. The ability to use video, podcasts, and text is very practical! This is definitely a huge added value.” - Dirk De Cubber
"Thanks to this training, I’ve developed a completely different mindset and have been able to break many taboos. The most important thing is that, with your support and guidance, I’ve gained much more self-confidence. This has had a huge impact on my business. I’ve been able to turn my passion into a source of income by developing the right mindset."
- Joke Floreal
"I decided to join this training to push myself into action. This training has already provided me with many practical tips, and I’m already working hard to put them into practice."
- Stefanie Nash
"I wanted to learn how to get more financially from my photography. Through the training, I've already learned to value my work more and have become more confident in raising my prices. It also helps to use the tip 'don't make money heavy.' I no longer feel uncomfortable when giving someone a price."
- Louise Degraeve
”With Kaat, it's not just about strategy or marketing, it's about you. Because we are our business. Everything we encounter in daily life is reflected in our business. In my case, this is ‘money’, a theme that keeps coming back and sometimes stops me from really moving forward as an entrepreneur. Kaat listens, mirrors and makes you think about yourself. She has a keen sense of who you are and where you want to go. Her warm personality allows you to take big steps quickly, even if you have to take them yourself.”
- Sirri Bosmans

In 2015, she founded De Donkere Kamer (dark room in Dutch), which grew from a live photography show into an international platform featuring exhibitions, masterclasses, a podcast and community programs for photographers.

She has organized the Winner’s Program for the laureates of the World Press Photo Awards in Amsterdam and regularly serves as a jury member for international photography competitions and fairs.
Today, she works closely with professional photographers as a creative and business mentor, guiding them in positioning their work more clearly and building sustainable practices.
Her perspective is shaped by experience, as a photographer, editor, curator and entrepreneur, and by a deep belief that photography still matters.
“Clarity changes decisions. And better decisions change results.”
- Kaat Celis
Your next step.
You don’t need to feel certain, but you do need to be honest.
If you recognise yourself in these patterns - working hard, yet sensing there is more clarity possible - then this program may be the right next step.
Not because something is wrong but because you are ready to operate at a higher level of responsibility.
Growth does not happen by accident. It happens through deliberate decisions.
Photography, Money & Mindset is one of those decisions.
If you are ready to commit to that process, you are welcome to join.
Practical questions
-
This program is suitable for both beginners and more experienced photographers. If you're a new entrepreneur, you'll make a strong start right away. If you've been running a business for a while, this is your opportunity to take your photography business to the next level.
-
Each module will take around an hour per week. You can repeat the modules if you want to make them even more personal. The more you experiment with the content, the quicker you'll see results in your business. And of course, you can also listen to the lessons at your convenience, for example, while on the go!
-
You will have access to the online learning platform for two years. This gives you plenty of time and space to follow the lessons at your own pace. You will also receive all updates and any additions during this period. Tip: Watch the lessons as soon as they are released so you can implement them quickly and positively change your situation.
-
If you're unsure, take a look at your current business: your numbers, your clients, your assignments, your satisfaction. This reflects your current situation. Is this what you want? If not, look for solutions, think differently, think bigger, dare to experiment, or seek help and buy the course.
-
No, this training is not a "spiriwiri" course. In the mindset module, we cover time, money, and energy, and how they are interconnected. These are very "earthly" laws from quantum physics and epigenetics: where your attention goes, energy flows. Through practical examples, you'll discover how this applies to your everyday life.
-
It may feel like a big investment. How much do you allow yourself, and how much do you want to get out of your business? Also, think about how much money you've missed out on over the past years by staying stuck in a mindset of scarcity and lack. By repeatedly doing what you've always done, you stay stuck where you are. If this amount feels too much to pay all at once, you can also choose to pay in 3 or 6 installments to make it more manageable.
-
In most cases, yes.
